ICT skills & careers

Victoria leads Australia in ICT skills. More than 34 per cent of all Australia's ICT enrolments are in Victoria, and the state is home to the world class universities and TAFE institutions.

ICT skills programs

The Victorian Government is working closely with industry and the education sector to ensure ICT training remains industry focused and attracts bright students. The launch of the Building Our Industries for the Future industry strategy in November 2008 included $1.85 million for a two year ICT skills package.

The Victorian Government has conducted comprehensive research around ICT skills to promote further skills growth in Victoria.

ICT skills snapshot identifies and forecasts specific gaps in the supply and demand of ICT skills in Victoria.

University IT graduates for ICT occupations in Victoria 2008 to 2022 PDF (66 pages, 673Kb) assesses supply and demand for people in ICT occupations in Victoria from 2008 to 2022. In particular, it estimates the shortfall or surplus of people with university information technology qualifications for these occupations.

Student attitudes to ICT study and careers examines perceptions and motivations of 14 - 19 year old students when making study and career decisions.
