Jobs are growing rapidly in the ICT sector, creating new opportunities for people to access a huge range of cutting-edge careers.

From film to finance to pharmaceuticals, there are employers looking for people with the right ICT skills. In fact, more than 60 per cent of people working with technology have jobs outside the traditional ICT sector.

The growing demand for technology skills across industry, is leading to some concern that there will be too few ICT graduates to meet future business needs.

Research suggests the largest barrier to young people choosing technology study is a lack of understanding about the types of careers available to people with these highly sought after skills.

To better inform young people about the wide range of options available to them in ICT, the Victorian Government is collaborating with industry and the education sector to coordinate the ICT: Start Here. Go Anywhere campaign.

At the centre of this approach is a state-wide series of Upload Your Future sessions, managed by the Australian Industry (Ai) Group. Each session features young ICT professionals and industry representatives, providing students with real insights into ICT study and careers. More than 4,100 Victorian students attended Upload Your Future sessions since 2006, held across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
