ICT education and scholarship programs

Over recent years the Government has worked with industry and education providers to provide enhanced opportunities for students to gain relevant industry experience as part of their studies. These programs include:
ICT industry skills scholarships
Scholarships incorporating industry based work experience were provided to undergraduate ICT students at Victorian universities.
ICT research scholarships
In 2005, 19 Victorian PhD and Masters ICT students received scholarship awards valued at $14,400, annually. The awards were part of a $1.1 million ICT research scholarships package funded by the Victorian Government.
These scholarships were designed to provide highly talented ICT students with the real option to pursue academic research at an industry comparable wage. Most students are conducting research in one of five priority ICT areas. The criteria also prioritised regional students and women pursuing ICT research.
