India and Victoria enjoy lucrative business links and the lead up to the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games will provide greater opportunities to forge new networks.

Victoria is home to leaders of the Indian ICT industry. Birlasoft, iGate, Infosys, NIIT, Patni, Satyam, TCS and Wipro - eight of NASCOM's top 15 ICT software and services companies - have office in Melbourne, employing over 1,200 people.

The Victorian Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State of Karnataka in 2005. The MoU has helped to establish stronger links in the areas of education, tourism, ICT, manufacturing and biotechnology.

Satyam has created an alliance with Melbourne University, and also with Victoria University. Satyam recruits software engineers and provide internships for university students. In turn, the universities give Satyam the chance to play an active role in ensuring that their curricula is current, and training reflects the industry needs.

A significant number of Australian companies have investments and partnerships in India. Telstra - Australia's largest telecommunications carrier - is involved in telecommunications infrastructure in India through its subsidiary, Managed Industrial Networks (MIN). Smaller ICT companies such as Victoria's Business Intelligence Technologies have opened offices in India.
