Melbourne Laneways Events

As part of the Melbourne Laneways trial, Multimedia Victoria together with the ABC will be holding a number of public events in Second Life. Each event will be hosted at various locations within the Melbourne Laneways area on ABC island.
The purpose of the events is to learn about the types of events that work in virtual worlds and how they could be put into practice by Victorian companies.

Melbourne Laneways Launch

Melbourne Laneways celebrated it's launch on ABC island with a party held on Thursday 4 October at 7:00pm EST.
The launch party involved a number of presenters explaining the rationale and build process for Melbourne Laneways. The event was hosted by the ABC's Fenella Kernebone, while artists Willam Yang and Matthew Gardiner gave an introduction to their exhibits at the Melbourne International Arts Festival. The event finished with a fireworks display and a chance to walk through Melbourne Laneways.

The Librarians

Melbourne Laneways hosted a discussion about the new ABC comedy series The Librarians on Thursday 1 November at 7:30pm EDT.
The discussion gave participants a chance to discuss the new show and many of their own experiences visiting and working in libraries. The discussion was hosted by Emerald Dumont, a librarian avatar from the Australian Libraries Building.

Melbourne Laneways Cup
|
Spring Racing Carnival fever spread through Melbourne Laneways on Wednesday 7 November at 7:00pm EDT. The Melbourne Laneways Cup consisted of two events, fashions on the fields and a scavenger race for Melbourne Cup trivia.
The fashions on the field highlighted some wonderful fashion while the trivia race set people running through the laneways looking for clues.
Lise Robbiani from the ABC hosted the event and also announced the new competition Design Your Piece of Melbourne.
