| UK IT company 15Below Ltd has chosen Melbourne as the location for its Asia Pacific headquarters, creating 10 new technical jobs over the next three years. Information and Communication Technology Minister John Lenders welcomed the new investment in the state and said that Victoria was the ideal location for 15Below’s expansion. “The Brumby Labor Government is continuing to provide the best possible business environment for international companies such as 15Below to invest,” Mr Lenders said. “By opening its Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne, travel software and support specialists 15Below can strengthen its presence in the Asia Pacific region and provide greater business support to some of their key clients including Qantas, Tiger Airways, Jetstar and Air Asia. “Victoria is also well positioned to conduct business throughout the Asia Pacific region, particularly as an entry point to China and Japan.” 15Below is considered the tourism industry’s leading alerts and notifications provider. Mr Lenders said Victoria’s ICT sector was putting up a strong fight against the challenges of the global financial crisis. Commercial Director of 15Below Ltd, Nicholas Key, said the company was delighted to have opened operations in Melbourne. “With a growing global client base, the expansion of 15below into Australia is a natural progression.
