| Global information security specialist Cybertrust will create up to 120 new jobs at its Melbourne Asia Pacific Headquarters over the next five years, the Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Marsha Thomson, announced today. Visiting the company's new Melbourne offices this morning, Ms Thomson said there were plans for it to become home to more than half the company's employees across the Asia Pacific region. "This investment by Cybertrust is further recognition of Victoria's place as a global investment destination," she said. "The choice to expand its Melbourne operations is a ringing endorsement of the Victorian industry, especially given that the company also has Asia-Pacific offices in Sydney, Canberra, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei and Jakarta." Cybertrust currently employs 63 Victorians, a number expected to almost triple with an additional 120 new jobs predicted over the next five years as the business expands. The Melbourne regional headquarters is home to Cybertrust senior management as well as research and development, sales and marketing, accounting and systems integration functions which provide support to its offices across the region. "With Victoria being the largest source of ICT university graduates in Australia, it is great to see that global companies are recognising the value of our highly-skilled workforce," Ms Thomson said. "Attracting international investment in local innovation and workforce development is a key plank in the Victorian Government's ICT Industry Plan 2005-2010." |
| Cybertrust's Senior Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific, Paul O'Rourke said that the company's continued growth in Australia and around the region reflected a broad move to more robust security infrastructure by government and business. "The opportunities for Cybertrust expansion across Asia Pacific are significant, and as our business grows this will lead to the creation of more jobs within our organization. "In addition to the high quality of IT graduates, Victoria has a pool of highly skilled and talented people that we can tap into to help us meet the ever-increasing demands of our customers," Mr O'Rourke said Globally, Cybertrust employs 890 staff, turning over US$160 million in 2005, with A$55 million in revenue from the Asia Pacific region. Headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, USA with more than 30 offices around the globe, Cybertrust is one of the world's largest providers of information security and is recognized as the global market leader in managed security services. |
