Victorian Games developer Rob Murray was last night awarded the 2009 Victorian Pearcey Award.

Representing Information and Communication Technology Minister John Lenders, Cabinet Secretary and Member for Prahran Tony Lupton MP congratulated Rob Murray, CEO and founder of Firemint as winner of the Victorian Pearcey Award.

“This award is not only about achievement - it is also a personal award, given by
peers in the industry, who recognise personal attributes such as leadership, dedication, integrity and vision,” Mr Lupton said.

"Robert Murray is responsible for a number of triple-A licensed titles for international publishers, and was the original designer and developer of the smash hit world-wide number one iPhone game Flight Control as well as the revolutionary Real Racing game, which is widely hailed as the best racing game on the iPhone,” he said.

“The Pearcey Awards recognise the innovation, dedication and commitment of individuals to the industry, and provide a valuable contribution to raising the profile of the ICT industry in Australia,” he said.

“The Victorian Government has been a supporter of the Pearcey Foundation since its 1998 inception. In supporting the growth and development of the local ICT industry, the Pearcey Awards complement the Victorian Government’s strong focus on ICT in Victoria.”
