Victorian ICT firm gets ambitious with IBM

News - 22 July 2009

A small Victorian ICT firm has partnered with tech giant IBM to deliver a cutting edge “software-as-a-service” (SAAS) program.

Yarris Pty Ltd is a unique software solutions company, offering hosted systems to manage external contractors and suppliers. Founded in Melbourne 13 years ago, Yarris is one of Australia’s pioneering SAAS providers, generating $1 billion in annual turnover.

Yarris will now team up with IBM to deliver a new integrated asset management and services system combining Yarris Field Services and IBM’s MAXIMO.

MAXIMO, a world leading application, is designed to manage the full life cycle of assets and the management of asset maintenance works. Yarris Field Services is designed to manage the delivery of services by both internal staff and external contractors. In combining the programs, the partners can offer a unique service for facilities maintenance organisations and infrastructure asset owners.

MAXIMO generates the work orders and Yarris Field Services selects, engages, manages and pays the appropriate service providers to fulfil the orders. The integrated system manages the whole life cycle of the work order from the contract engagement through certification checking, contract variations, KPI assessment and payment.

“The partnership is highly beneficial to both parties,” said Cabinet Secretary Tony Lupton, speaking at the official launch of the IBM/Yarris joint venture.

“The combination of these two products will give the end user more transparency, more control and ultimately lower the cost of doing business.”

Mr Lupton said that as an added benefit, the IBM partnership will allow Yarris to take their services worldwide.
