| The Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Marsha Thomson, has congratulated Melbourne software house nSynergy International for taking out this year's $10,000 Microsoft Global Export Potential award. nSynergy was for awarded its technically innovative software package LegalNet. "nSynergy is testament to Victoria's ICT industry which is leading the country in its smart and innovative approach to IT applications," said Ms Thomson. "The Victorian Government is proud to have supported nSynergy in its successful software venture, developing a world-first software platform for the legal collaboration between law firms and in-house legal teams, creating a seamless system for data exchange and financial, document and information management." The award was presented as part of the Consensus Software Awards - Australia's only independently judged awards for Australian designed and developed software. A strong contingent of Victorian companies was represented at the gala event, with eight Victorian finalists among the 24 short-listed IT companies. Seventeen IT companies walked away winners of the unique Awards, all of equal merit. "We are very pleased to see so many Victorian IT enterprises performing so well. Reaching the short-list for the Consensus Software Awards shows that Victorian IT companies are achieving high standards of innovation and performance, and importantly show continued potential for growth," said Ms Thomson. "We've also seen local Victorian IT start-ups rate highly in the BRW top 40 Upstarts list of companies less that 4 years old making at least $500,000 per year in revenue. "Of the seven IT-based firms listed in their top 40, four were Victoria IT companies - a very pleasing achievement from our up-coming IT entrepreneurs. "The Bracks government is committed to making sure Victoria's IT sector continues to lead the nation, by encouraging continued innovation and unique applications of ICT technologies, and fostering industry development and growth." |
