Regional Telecommunications Spend and Demand Reports
Released February 2006

The Victorian Government has commissioned a series of reports into telecommunications spend and demand across Victoria. These reports are part of the Government's Broadband Framework policy.

Spend and Demand Fact Sheet (PDF, 330KB, 2 pages) provides background to the Spend/Demand reports.

Whole of State Report (PDF, 10.5MB, 97 pages) highlights the spend on total telecommunications, broadbands increasing share of spend in the future, who spends the most/least on telecommunications, and who has/not access to broadband.

The following reports provide information about each of the specific regions.

A National Data Architecture for Australian Research - Victorian Perspective
Released July 2005

The e-Research agenda for Australia requires the establishment of an integrated strategic approach to linking the researchers' activities in research and development, and its consequent data production and access needs, with major scientific instruments and data sets. The evolving Australian research and education network and computing environments require focussed attention on developing secure, authenticated access to, and storage of, information.

This report summarises the Victorian Government's extensive investigation of the needs for a strategy for a national data architecture for Australian researchers.

Released April 2005

The Government's Broadband Framework defines how the Victorian Government will meet its broadband requirements in a strategic manner that also facilitates the delivery of telecommunications infrastructure, greater take-up of broadband services, increased competition in the broadband market and lower prices for households and businesses.

Regional Telecommunications Spend and Demand Reports
Released May/June 2004

This brochure introduces what the Victorian Government is doing to reduce the cost to investors of obtaining information on Victoria's regional, rural and remote telecommunication markets.
