Sparx Systems modeling tools adopted by ISO Geospatial Community (04/08/2008)
The International Organization of Standardization's ISO/TC 211 Technical Committee has decided to adopt Sparx Systems' Enterprise Architect as modeling tool of choice for development of geospatial interoperability specifications during its 26th Plenary Meeting in Copenhagen.



Aconex to facilitate construction of $50 million inner-city housing block with it's online information management service (23/06/2008)
Acconex will provide its online information management service, at no charge, to facilitate the construction of a $50 million inner-city housing block for the homeless in Melbourne.

Based on the New York initiative, Common Ground, which has helped reduce homelessness by 25% since 2005, the 10-storey building will house up to 120 people and will contain on-site mental health referrals, drug and alcohol counseling, and employment services. The facility will be located on Elizabeth Street near the Queen Victoria Market and is expected to open in 2010.



SeerPharma to Market Innovative New Clinical Software in Australia and South East Asia (19/05/2008)
Local Victorian ICT company, Evado , has signed a re-seller agreement with SeerPharma Pty Ltd to market its clinical software product throughout Australia and South East Asia. Evado's clinical trials software improves data accuracy and productivity using web-based workflow and by eliminating the double-handling of paper based processes.



S Central acquires Brisbane-based service provider (21/12/2007)
Melbourne-based IT services company S Central has acquired Brisbane-based technology service provider Clariti. The acquisition doubles the size of S Central's staff, to 200, and revenue for fiscal 2008 is expected to top $60 million.



Adacel simulator wins $3.7m deal (17/12/2007)
Melbourne-born company Adacel, has won a $3.7 million contract to provide air traffic control and radar simulators to a European-based training organisation. The local aerospace systems company is set to deliver the simulators in the first half of 2008.



NICTA inks agreement for performance monitoring technology for telcos (11/12/2007)
Australia's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Research Centre of Excellence, NICTA, has signed a commercial license agreement with Optium, a leading supplier of high-performance optical subsystems, covering groundbreaking optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) monitoring technology.

This is the first technology licence agreement exploiting research in the Managing and Monitoring the Internet (MAMI) project, which is based at NICTA's Victoria Research Laboratory.



Space-Time Research, a nation leader in ICT exports (30/11/2007)
Local software developer, Space-Time Research, expanded its international business solution portfolio to include Italy’s Venice Port Authority, further solidifying Victoria as the nation’s leader in ICT exports. The Port Authority's recently multi-million investment to adopt statistical data solution SuperSTAR, will examine data at various aggregation levels in order to increase operating efficiency.



Aconex takes out awards and wins over Morocco (15/11/2007)
Victorian ICT success, Aconex, is boasting yet another major new contact, having been selected to service the first phase of the $2 billion Taghazout resort development near Agadir, Morocco.

The information management services company, which is currently Australian Emerging Exporter of the Year, has also picked up a number of other awards in recent weeks. These include awards for both Business Innovation and Sustainable Development at the AustCham Australia China Business Awards in Hong Kong; Best Overall at Australia’s Smart Company Awards, and the Global Growth category at the Anthill Cool Company awards, also in Australia.

Also, for the fourth consecutive year, Aconex was ranked in the top 20 of the BRW Fast 100, which ranks Australia’s fastest growing companies.



Revolution IT wins top business award (26/10/2007)
Victorian IT company, Revolution IT, has taken out The Age/D&B Business Award for IT. The awards, which began in 1993, seek to promote, acknowledge and reward outstanding business achievement by Victorian companies. Criteria include credit-worthiness, business risk, research and development, and employment growth.



Local telco company Haliplex fast tracks into Malaysian market (19/10/2007)
Melbourne-based next-generation telecommunications manufacturer, Haliplex, has secured three multimillion dollar deals with the Malaysian rail network. The deals follow the company’s successful trade mission to CommunicAsia 2007 in Singapore, which they attended with financial support from the Victorian Government’s ICT Trade Events and Export Assistance program. The versatile ‘micro’ platform developed by Haliplex, is not only being deployed within train signalling and ticketing systems in Malaysia, but is also used worldwide in utilities, military applications, carrier networks, government and private sector organisations, and is distributed by such industry heavyweight partners as Nokia Siemens Networks.



Victorian Quantum Cryptography secures Swiss national election (12/10/2007)
Victorian ICT company, Senetas has announced the world first deployment of its award-winning CypherNet Cerberis Quantum encryption – it will be used to secure the national elections this month in Switzerland. The first real-world application of quantum cryptography, jointly developed by Senetas and Geneva-based technology partner id Quantique, was installed in September to protect the dedicated line used for counting Swiss ballots.
