BETT 2008

BETT 2008 attracted 700 educational suppliers and more than 30,000 visitors bringing together the global teaching and learning community for four days of innovations and inspirations.

In 2008, 12 Victorian eLearning companies attended BETT, further consolidating Victoria's reputation as the home of excellence in eLearning.

BETT is the world's leading educational ICT event, with over 600 leading educational suppliers, and over 27,000 visitors, it brings together all relevant ICT providers for the global teaching and learning marketplace.

Victorian eLearning companies have been attending for several years and using BETT as an effective forum to build their UK market presence.

The Victorian Government and the Victorian eLearning Industry Association exhibited at BETT 2007.


Victorian eLearning companies visit Japan: 10-14 April 2006
The Minister for ICT, Marsha Thomson, led a Victorian Government ICT Mission to Japan to promote the strengths of Victoria as an investment location and an internationally competitive source of innovative products and services. Of the 21 companies which participated in the mission, four companies were in the eLearning field. The mission gave Victorian eLearning companies the chance to showcase their sophisticated products to a global market.


New eLearning tool to help reduce the suicide rate in Men
Melbourne-based company, Microcraft recently created a new eLearning tool to help reduce the suicide rate in Men. The new tool, "Suicide Assessment and Intervention: Men at Risk", was created for the Federal Government's Crisis Support Services and launched by the Federal Minister for Family and Community Services on October 13, 2005.

Aimed at mental health professionals, the eLearning tool is being delivered in CDROM format to agencies within the Family and Community Services Network.

Victoria at Aichi World Expo Japan, June 2005
In June 2005, the Victorian Minister for ICT, Marsha Thomson, accompanied Victorian ICT companies to Japan. The trip highlighted Victoria's ICT capabilities in particular sectors including computer games, eLearning, intelligent transport systems, RFID and photonics and microelectronics R&D.

VASSP Statewide General Meeting
eLearning Symposium for Education

$1.8M for Creating eLearning Leaders (CeLL)
The Creating eLearning Leaders (CeLL) program will commence in 2005. The project is a joint initiative with Microsoft's Partners in Learning Program. Twenty-eight schools will become centres of ICT expertise, innovation and support.
